From DJ Brown
Well, another eventful week has gone by as an intern at Slice Communications.
I came into the office Wednesday, February 8th, and saw four neatly placed cupcakes on a square porcelain plate placed in the middle of a table. Below that was a bar of chocolate and a bright yellow piece of paper that was cut into the number four. I wondered why the treats were there and what the number four represented.
Tom, one of my coworkers, noticed my curiosity and informed me of Slice’s fourth anniversary. I immediately thought back to my Intro to Business course and the statistic my professor told us one class of how one in three businesses fail within the first year.
Now knowing the extent of Cass and Staci’s success and how consistent they are truly impresses me. What impressed me more about that day is that many people, including me, would have made it a day to celebrate, but to Cass and Staci it was just another day of work. I watch both women come in and out the office, make phone calls, and meet with clients. I admire their drive and realize that is exactly what got them to where they are today, and that same drive will continue to help them progress in their already successful careers.
When they are not working, they volunteer their time to a number of non-profits and have seats on respectable boards in the Greater Philadelphia region. Recently, learning all this information about my managers made me no longer complain about my schedule because if Cass and Staci can manage their schedules, I should be able to manage mine. After another busy day at the office, I headed to the elevator and on the short ride to the first floor I asked myself “Am I easily impressed?” My answer was that, “I am impressed by impressive people.” Happy Birthday Slice! (Cue the confetti and fireworks)
