For the next 15 weeks, we are going to share with you the experiences of DJ Remington Brown, a 21-year old student at Rutgers University in Camden, NJ. We were connected to DJ through Hopeworks N’Camden, a development organization which helps youth get their GED, go to college, and earn a job. We are delighted to have DJ as part of our team, and hope you will enjoy his journey through his internship.

As soon as my class is dismissed, I promptly walk through the crowd of my college hallways to its exit. I then go to my car and drive back home to drop-off my books and grab a quick lunch. After I eat, I depart to the Walter Rand Transportation Center, and purchase a round-trip ticket for Patco’s Philadelphia local train to begin my commute. After a few minutes and a few stops, I finally arrive at 13th and Locust. After a two-city block walk, I reach 121 South 13th Street & Samson, to a heavy glass door with a keypad entrance that leads to an elevator and I reached my destination. I then enter the elevator and press the round, black button with the number four engraved in it and head to the 4th floor. As soon as the elevator doors open, Charla and the rest of the friendly and welcoming staff of ChatterBlast greet me as I continue to my new office to be greeted warmly by my new bosses and co-workers Cass, Tom, Jeff, and Staci. Since Monday January 23rd, this has been my daily routine and since that same date I have had the privilege to join the Slice Communications family as an intern. Cass, Staci, Tom and Jeff have treated me just like family and we connect as if we knew each other for years. They have introduced me to so many new experiences and opportunities. I have written my first press release, I help manage a twitter account, and even attended my first office party all within my first week from a desk with a fourth floor view of Center City. The only aspect I dislike about my internship with Slice is that it only last for fifteen weeks.
