This interview is with Jennifer Lynn Robinson, CEO/Founder at Purposeful Networking.
Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?
It is important to take time out to recognize achievements as well as to take stock of the challenges women are still facing. I would love to see more representation of women and women of color in leadership roles and as beneficiaries of venture capital funding.
What motivates you to be a leader in your industry?
I have overcome many challenges in my life. That does not make me unique or special, but I am willing to talk about the low points and failures. I hope in doing so I can inspire other women.
Are there any female leaders that have inspired you throughout your career?
Yes. Serena Williams and DVF. Local to our area, I am inspired by Tracy Davidson of NBC10 who I am fortunate to call a friend as well.
What advice or message would you share with young women who are looking to build their careers?
Never wait for opportunities or for your work to speak for itself. Be proactive about seeking opportunities and recognition for yourself.
