Then They Came for the Podcasters…

AI is a source of endless innovation, fascination, and conversation in the marketing world. Certainly, we’re not alone – all industries are investigating new technological advances and grappling with how to navigate the rapidly expanding repertoire of options. Slice Communications has an Always Learning philosophy, and many of us are already testing new AI tools in our day-to-day work to save time, simplify processes, handle tasks like note-taking, and even spark creative ideas.

However, that doesn’t mean everyone’s comfortable with it.

For creative professionals, the threat of generative AI tools replacing copywriters, designers, and other talented makers of all types is very real. A recent article from The Verge, “Google is using AI to make fake podcasts from your notes,” inspired a discussion on the subject in our team chat. Vice President of Creative Tony Sadowski and Director of Project Management Anika Edrei present a video version of their conversation – brought to life in animated form using Adobe Express.

And just in case you haven’t checked out Google’s NotebookLM tool, we copied and pasted that same original conversation into the software to see what it would create.

The results are fascinating.

As Tony summed up the fake NotebookLM podcast: “It’s magical and terrifying and brilliant and very stupid all at once. The plus side, you can feasibly turn ANYTHING into a podcast. The downside, you can feasibly turn ANYTHING into a podcast. I’ve been podcasting for well over a decade and it feels like it’s making fun of us. Spongebob meme, ‘i Do A pOdCaSt!'”

We hope that using AI tools to turn a group chat conversation into media will inspire some real discussion!

How are you using AI tools to simplify part of your business?

Do you have concerns about using them?

Curious, but don’t know where to get started?
