International Women’s Day with Christine Polite, Invisible Hand

As a woman-owned business, we are honored to share the stories and messages of incredible woman leaders across a variety of industries for our International Women’s Day blog series.

This interview is with Christine Polite, Creative Strategist at Invisible Hand.

Why do you think it’s important to celebrate International Women’s Day?

Phew – we still have a LOT of progress that needs to be made for gender equality. From access to reproductive healthcare, to food insecurity, to income and pay gaps, to sexual and physical violence… the list goes on and on. Women’s issues must come to the forefront to get the attention they deserve. And moreso, we need to focus on the intersections where gender meets additional dimensions like race, sexual orientation, body type, income and economic status, mental health and more. These areas should be our focus… and there is so much work to be done.

What motivates you to be a leader in your industry?

I love being a leader – especially one who dares to lead with empathy and kindness. We are teaching our future leaders a new way of being the “boss” and a new way of doing business. We’re also showing them that things like boundaries and communication, understanding and flexibility are more important than grit.

Are there any female leaders that have inspired you throughout your career?

So so many, but currently, I’m majorly inspired by my boss, Genevieve Roth, who is not only an incredible thought leader and entrepreneur but an amazing mom and human.

What advice or message would you share with young women who are looking to build their careers?

Be kind, be curious and have courage. Listen to yourself and your heart. Find a team that puts PEOPLE first. And don’t be shy about setting your own boundaries – you can’t expect others to do that for you, but you can expect them to hold those boundaries once you set them.
