How do you define your leadership?
Trust and creativity: I lead my team from a birds-eye view and provide an environment that promotes collaboration and creativity. I encourage teamwork and the sharing of tasks when necessary.
How has your leadership changed over the years you’ve been working?
I have become much more patient. I have also learned that redirection is much more successful than reprimanding.
Can you share a story that demonstrates a key learning for you in your leadership journey?
There have been several instances when I realize those I have mentored during my career are now successful colleagues of my equal. This has taught me why mentoring is an important part of good leadership.
What role do you think marketing communications should play in the future of your organization or industry?
Within the legal field, marketing and communications currently serves a very important role. As marketing communications moves further from traditional tools and more toward online and social media, attorneys need to be retrained and re-educated on best practices.
What do you think young women entering the marketing communications field should know? What advice do you have for them?
Use your voice and use it loudly. To use an all too familiar saying: “lean in, listen and don’t be afraid to ask questions.”
