She collaborated with Council members to generate thought leadership pieces on how DEI plays a role in marketing and communications. Kija also managed a blog series for International Women’s Day 2022 where she worked with a diverse group of women leaders in marketing and communications across different industries to share their stories and expertise.
In addition to developing the strategy and executing all of Slice Communications marketing efforts, Kija also handles the agency’s partnerships, sponsorships, community relations, and vendors. She diligently fosters current relationships while also actively searching for new opportunities and relationships that will support the agency’s growth in the Philadelphia region and beyond. Externally, Kija serves as an ambassador of Slice Communications at tradeshows, conferences, and various marketing events. Internally, she manages event opportunities and speaking engagements for all of our team members.
Beyond Slice Communications, Kija is heavily involved in Social Media Day PHL. Kija has served as an integral piece in strategically repositioning Social Media Day PHL beyond its annual conference to be a community for social media, digital marketing, and communications professionals at all levels. Kija spearheaded the effort and project management for a new website created for Social Media Day PHL. From coordinating RFP’s to being the lead project manager, she oversaw the entire process making sure the new website was thoughtfully created to help redefine the organization’s future. Kija is also involved in managing sponsorships and all marketing efforts for the annual conference, as well as launching and promoting the Social Media Stars awards.
Prior to joining Slice Communications, Kija led all event marketing efforts at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Some of the most prominent events she worked on included journalists interviewing top newsmakers such as Fiona Hill, Dawn Staley, and Jake Tapper. She also was a part of the creation of Inquirer LIVE at Lunch, where journalists interview high-profile individuals like Donovan McNabb, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Pink Sweat$, and Shawn Stockman on Instagram Live.
Kija earned a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising from Temple University and fell in love with Philadelphia the day she stepped foot on campus. Outside of Slice, you can find Kija buried in a new thriller book or rooting for the Birds on Sundays.
